This was such a blast to build! Scrolling through Craigslist looking for old bikes is one of my favorite pass times. When I stumbled upon an ad that was titled “bike lot, come get it,” I jumped right on it. You never know what people have had stored for years and sometimes you can luck out. When I pulled up, it was clear this dude was a Peugeot fan. I ended up taking back with me 3 ~almost~ complete bikes and 1 Peugeot frame. Everything was stored in a tool shed with poor weather sealing so I could tell right away these were going to be some projects.

This is the first of the 4 Peugeots that I’ve finished! I converted it’s original 27” wheelset to a 700 which was an easy transition thanks to the long reach of the Mafac Racer brakes. It even has enough room to clear a 40, which is the tire size on there now! I kept the original cotter bottom bracket and crankset because the ratios on these rings are unique (don’t see too many small chainrings in cotter land). I stretched the frame and realigned the dropouts to comfortably fit a 9 speed in the rear. I also fitted a brand new Shimano Altus rear derailleur and Altus rapid shifter. It’s also running the OG Suntour front derailleur but with another rapid fire 2 speed Shimano shifter. It was so fun working in this bike! I had to take it on a test ride down the highline and it checks all the boxes. It feels confident, sturdy, and snappy. No weird wobbles or creaks! I wonder what I should do with the next 3 🤔

This was a custom build for a homie!
