This custom, neo-retro Bridgestone RB-1 gets cooler the more you look at it. When I got the bike, there was already some patina starting in some areas. Instead of repainting, I wanted to lean into the worn look. The entire frame was sanded in areas to give it the distressed look. After the basic look was there, I took some fresh sandpaper and scratched it up everywhere as randomly as I could to make it look like it was real patina as opposed to it looking like it was sanded. After the sanded was done, I coated the frame in a 10-1 mixture of boiled linseed oil and mineral spirits. I highly recommend recoating the frame every so often with this mixture, especially if you live in a humid climate. It is running a complete 11 speed Campagnolo Record group with Chorus brakes, Nitto bar, and 3ttt stem. This bike is the equivalent of putting a new LS7 in a 1967 Camaro. It's one of the more fun builds that I've ever done! The only notable issue is the left brake hood has a piece of it missing (see photo) but isn't too noticeable. The threads in the rear derailleur hanger must have stripped at some point because the previous owner installed a nut with the proper threading for the derailleur to screw into. It's a "problem solver," type part. New cables and bar tape. Headset was rebuilt. Ready to ride!
