This is a very rare opportunity to own an important piece of cycling history from one of the best frame builders to ever braze steel. This is a 1992 Team USA time trial frame built by the one and only Koichi Yamaguchi. I emailed Mr. Yamaguchi to first see if he was the builder and secondly, to see when it was made and get more history. I attached a screenshot of the conversation. To summarize, Yamaguchi built this frame for David Nicolson to compete in Barcelona for the 1992 Olympic games. Nicolson unfortunately crashed while on a training ride, damaging the fork (hence the non original Easton carbon fork) and breaking his leg. This would lead to John Stenner taking his place. Mr. Yamaguchi also stated the bike would have originally been white with different decals. I'm not sure on the history after this point. It was painted at some point and I assume it stayed around the Olympic training facility in Colorado Springs, as it has a badge for the facility on the head tube. The craftsmanship is quite literally as good as it gets. The fillet brazing, jointing, and tube work is absolutely insane. One could look at this frame for hours and find new details every time.
This frame is in very good condition, but shows sign of use. It has just a handful of imperfections in the paint. It also has a small dent in the top tube (see photo). Apart from that, no cracks, bend, or any other issues that would compromise the frame.
This frame is currently being auctioned off on eBay. The link to the auction can be found HERE!
