The 1980's and 90's are the golden age of racing bikes. Frame builders all across the world were producing top notch frames all by hand. This Colnago Super was the top dog when it came out in 1980. Every time you ride this bike it feels like a special event, even after the 1,000th time you lift your leg over the top tube. This thing feels alive when you ride it. Out of the saddle, I'd put this bike up against anything. You can tell this bike wants to go fast but without any anxious urgency.
There are some modern updates to this bike that compliment the riding experience. New brake pads are the first thing you'll notice. It stops quickly and smoothly. Next are the wheels. it's rolling updated Mavic Open Pro rims that are laced to the original Campagnolo Record Hubs. Updated brake cable housing and tires also give this bike what it needed. The Campagnolo Nuovo group is a Nuovo group...perfect!
There are some quirks to this bike! The paint isn't perfect but it is original. There are areas where paint chips were filled in and the overall finish on the paint isn't concourse level but it still looks great! There are some scuffs on the back of the saddle and there is a small tear forming on one of the brake hoods. The drive side dust cap is Campy and the non drive side is a Specialized cap. Apart from these little cosmetic things, this Colnago is ready for the road!
