Mercian Classic

This Mercian Classic is a high end, do-it-all kind of rig. Function meets form in an elegant and timeless manner. The frame is made using Reynolds 531 tubing and is fitted with a mixture of some of the best components of the time. The NGC450 brakes are simply stunning with the matching brake levers. It has Suntour Cyclone front and rear derailleurs, Campagnolo crankset, Cinelli cockpit, and Blackburn rack. It's currently running a knobby 32, but it looks like you could squeeze in just a slightly larger, smooth tire if you're keen. 

It's in great overall condition, but shows sign of use. The 531 stickers have been replaced but the paint and other decals are all original. When you remove the Suntour friction shifters, theres a small impression in the frame from them being over-tightened. No dents, bends, or cracks. Frame is solid! Headset and bottom bracket feel great. There is some oxidation on the front brake cable bridge. Some of the spokes are also starting to get old and lose their shine. Avocet hubs spin fast and wheels are true. The front brake bridge is also frozen inside the brake. This means sometimes you have to air down before inserting the front wheel. New brake hoods and bar tape have been installed as well as new brake/shift cables and housing. The chain is used but not stretched. It was sonic cleaned before getting reinstalled. Frame was waxed. All parts were removed, sonic cleaned, and then carefully reinstalled. This rig is ready for anything you throw at it!!
